With two exceptions, each walk starts and finishes in Malton, meaning that you can leave the car behind. All walks extend beyond the town boundaries so there is a strong country element in each. Because Malton, and its twin town Norton, are quite compact you are soon out of the built up area and on to rural lanes,footpaths and bridleways.
Each walk has a description of what to expect en route, a stated distance and time estimate of its duration. There is also a plan of the route, with options for varying the walk where they exist. The distance walked beside busy roads has been minimised. Each walk is quite different and where passing over the same ground is unavoidable, every effort has been made to vary direction travelled.
